Reflection AI Raises $2 Billion at an $8 Billion Valuation

Reflection AI is an artificial intelligence startup focused on building autonomous coding agents and ultimately superintelligent autonomous systems. The company aims to automate software development processes, allowing AI agents to reason over and evolve code with a high degree of autonomy, rather than just serving as simple co-pilots. Its initial product direction is centered on these autonomous coding agents, which can read, understand, write, and evolve code within a company's codebase.
Reflection AI has raised $2 billion in a new funding round, bringing the company to $8 billion. The funding round was backed by Nvidia, and saw participation from prominent investors, including Eric Schmidt, Citi, and 1789 Capital, alongside continued support from existing investors Lightspeed and Sequoia.
Reflection AI, headquartered in New York, New York, United States, was founded in 2024 by Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou. Reflection AI co-founder and CEO Misha Laskin frames their mission as a "modern day Sputnik moment," driven by the urgency to offer an American-led, open-source alternative to compete with rapidly emerging models from China, thereby ensuring the global standard for AI intelligence is not built elsewhere.
